ABAC-KSC Free Homepages for Schools

In order to encourage schools in Thailand to have homepages on the Internet accessible from all over the world, Assumption University (ABAC), Internet KSC Group of Companies, KSC Foundation, the Internet Association and Thailand Chapter of the Internet Society are offering the followings, free of charge for one year (except the Option in #6 below):

1. Free Domain Name. An authorized officer of any school may submit a request (using the KSC standard form) to register a domain name in the form: .th.edu where stands for the name of the school. If it has already been taken by another school, some modifications must be made to be unique. The fees for registration and maintenance is waived for one year. After the first year, the request may be submitted again.

2. Free Space on Web Server. Space of up to 10 Mb. will be made available free of charge on a server connected to the Internet KSC backbone which is connected to United States at 42 Mbps. by October 1999 and that bandwidth is the largest from Thailand to the US. To ensure good services, each server will handle not more than 100 schools. The fees for computer memory and maintenance is waived for one year. After the first year, the request may be submitted again.

3. Free Advisor. One graduate student from the MS(CIS), MS(CEM), or MS(IEC) at Assumption University will be assigned to serve as Advisor to each school. The Advisor may implement the web for the school by himself or in cooperation with students and staff from the school.

4. Central School Portal. Access to all the school webs will be centralized through the web .

5. Completion within Three Months. The Advisors are graduate students in the classes of Prof.Dr.Srisakdi Charmonman and Dr. Ketchayong Skowratananunt and they are required to complete the school web assignments within three months.

6. Free E-mail. There will be free e-mail addresses for students, instructors, staff members of all educational institutions in the form @thailand.net which is chosen by the user and must be unique.
